Echocardiogram

Echocardiography is a procedure in which the heart is imaged using ultrasound waves.  This test is painless, brief and can be accomplished either in the office or in the hospital.  The study shows cardiac chamber sizes; heart pumping function including specific areas of heart wall damage; wall thickness; valvular problems; blood clots or masses; and fluid collections around the heart.

All of the Bay Area Heart Center cardiologists are trained in the interpretation of standard, transthoracic echocardiography.
