Peripheral Vascular Ultrasonography Patients with coronary artery disease often have other associated vascular disease, especially in the blood vessels of the kidneys, carotid arteries, and legs. Lower extremity disease often results in pain in the legs with walking and, in severe cases, pain even when resting along with non-healing foot and leg ulcers. The Non-Invasive Peripheral Vascular Laboratory at Bay Area Heart Center uses state-of-the-art equipment with highly trained technicians to non-invasively evaluate the peripheral vascular lower extremity circulation in the office setting. Using a combination of segmental blood pressure monitoring at different levels in the legs, doppler analysis, pulse volume recordings, and measurement of ankle brachial index, the condition of the circulation to the legs can be evaluated in great detail. When appropriate, further evaluation by angiography is recommended to assess options for treatment to restore satisfactory blood flow. Dr. Solomon Fishman, Dr. John Finn, and Dr. David Mokotoff are trained and skilled in the interpretation of non-invasive peripheral vascular studies. |
