 Vijay R. Patel, M.D., FACC

Dr. Patel came to the St. Petersburg area from Detroit, Michigan,  where he finished his training at Henry Ford Hospital.  He was born and raised in Parma, Ohio until he left for college and attended the University of Pennsylvania.  After he finished his undergraduate training he came back to Ohio and attended medical school at the Ohio State University.  He completed his 3rd and 4th years of medical school at the Cleveland Clinic where he performed his clinical rotations.

 
Dr. Patel then continued his postgraduate training as an intern and resident in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.  He then ventured one last time to the bitter cold where he completed his Cardiology fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
 
Dr. Patel is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in the field of Internal Medicine and in Cardiovascular Disease.  He is also certified by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology and the National Board of Echocardiography.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. A member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography.  His special interests include clinical cardiology, nuclear cardiology, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, transesophageal echocardiography, and stress echocardiography. 

Dr. Patel is currently the Chair of the Cardiovascular Medicine Committee at Largo Medical Center, Chairman of the Critical Care Committee at Largo Medical Center. He is also the current Director of the Echocardiography Lab at Largo Medical Center and Tampa Bay Heart Institute.
